Publishing package: San Antonio Spurs × Lindy Waters III
A documentary film about Spurs forward Lindy Waters III and the team’s decade of work with Indigenous San Antonio had to travel four platforms, past seven outside accounts who might carry it and might not.
What the film needed around it
I wrote the publishing package: the headline set, the long description, the social copy, the platform assignments, and the partner tags.
The story runs from a moment before the 2014 Finals to a phrase now inscribed in Kiowa at the tunnel exit. The copy had to carry that twice over: once for someone meeting Waters for the first time on a phone, and again for someone who arrives by search six months later with no idea who any of these people are.
What a reviewer got
The package arrived with a recommended headline and copy set, and drafted alternates underneath. Someone who preferred a different line was choosing between written options, and the work did not come back for a rewrite.
Recommended: Lindy Waters III is one of 5 Native Americans in NBA history
Alternate: Lindy Waters III is stepping up for the next generation of Native athletes
Alternate: One NBA player is helping Native kids in San Antonio find their identity and confidence
- Headline set
Three options, one marked as the recommendation, the other two ready to run.
- Social copy
Two versions, written so the pair could be tested against each other.
- Long description
Full description for the film, carrying the story for anyone who arrives by search.
- Platform assignment
Which cut runs where, settled in the package.
- Partner tags
Verified handles per platform, with the gaps marked so nobody tags an account that does not exist.
The partner-tag map
Underneath the copy sat a map of every account that might amplify the film: seven subjects across four platforms, each handle verified, each gap marked. Of the twenty-eight possible tags, five did not exist. Publish time is the wrong moment to find that out.

What shipped
The film published on June 29, 2026, three days after the package was delivered. The description I wrote ran on it verbatim, opening line to close.
Why it matters
A film is not ready to travel because the edit is finished. The copy, platform plan, and partner map decide how someone finds it and whether another account can help carry it.
